A DAY OFF FOR YOUR HAIRDRESSER OR NOT.

Whether your staff get to enjoy some days off work or not is a heavily debated topic, yet there are no right or wrong answers. Everything boils down to what vision you have for your business which automatically determines the kind of structure you decide to build for your salon business. So the question is, how have you decided to run your business?

You need to be deliberate in every decision you make concerning your business. Have you ever wondered about where your business will be in a few years from now? Are you just running a hair salon because it is something want to do by the side or do you see yourself growing into an empire and carving a niche for yourself in the industry?

If you are planning long term, then you need to incorporate a structure that has a place for your staff as well. For instance, the salon business is structured in a way that if you do not organize it's running properly, your staff will literally burn themselves out by working seven days a week, round the months and year without having any time to rest, and I can assure you that this can affect your business negatively, it can lead to low productivity and the loss of some important clients.

In most cases, your staff can become very erratic towards clients, wear long faces and their customer relations is adversely affected.
Every body needs rest at some point, your staff inclusive. Therefore whether it is holiday season or not, you should have a structure in place that allows your staff a period of rejuvenation.
That being said, proper structuring keeps the business running even when some members of staff decide to take sometime off. Bearing in mind also that during holiday periods, you tend to have a higher influx of clients due to the fact that most people are off work. You need to make sure that the quality of services rendered does nor drop due to the absence of certain individuals. You can achieve this if you can make provision for hiring of some temporal staff yo stand in until your staff returns. You can also adopt the shift system for your  business. If hospitals, hotels, gas stations etc can adopt this system, why not try it out also for your salon business, after all what you are looking at is consistent productivity.

For more on how   to structure your salon business, go to salon 360 course and see your business take a whole new turn. This can also help you decide the type of business you intend to run at the end of the day.
So basically as a salon business owner, you need to put a relieve system in place so as not yo wear out your staff.
